I can speak for all the WFW crew when I say, we’ve been hard at work all summer getting our food plots ready for season. Back in late July, we were able to get in our Antler King Honey Hole in the ground. The plots that are in good soil are doing good considering we haven’t had hardly any rain.
On the other hand, the Honey Hole that was planted in sandy soil isn’t coming up very good because of the lack of rain. So, a few days ago, we went back in and planted our remaining food plots in Antler King Fall/Winter/Spring and we also brought in some Honey Hole and re-seeded those food plots that were struggling. If we get some rain, the Honey Hole plots we re-planted will still be effective in drawing in the deer!
We also are trying some NO SWEAT by Antler King this year in our pine tree food plot. The mixture of perennial and annual food plot seeds that comprise NO SWEAT NO TILL have been chosen because they are easy to establish, shade tolerant, pH tolerant, they grow fast, and deer love them. This mix is great for shady areas, logging roads and other little spots in the timber that you cannot get equipment into to till up the soil yet, you want to attract deer to that area! This food plot isn’t that big and we can’t get our equipment into it, so Brian just simply poured the NO SWEAT into our “Action Back by Compass Game Works”.
With a push of the botton and a flip of a lever, The Action Back applies the seed as Brian walks the food plot. It has an adjustable downspout and reducing inserts which allows you spread any size seed and even fertilizer. For bigger food plots, you can attach it to your 4-wheeler or truck and away you go! This is a very versatile tool that we added to our arsenal this year and we couldn’t be happier!
Now that all our food plots are in the ground, we leave them in the hands of mother nature! Bring on the rain!
