With the passing of deer season we sit and wait, wondering which deer made it not only through the deer season, but through the very harsh winter. Shed hunting is a great way to “check your inventory”. Some of the most common places to find sheds will be in food sources, bedding areas, staging areas, and main trails. In my experience, south facing hill sides that have a beding area seem to be the most successful. It seems that the deer prefer that side of the hill for bedding due to the long exposure of the warm sun during the bitter cold days. Finally, a warm up has come and the snow is melting away very quickly. Although some bucks will still be holding, now is a great time to get out there and start looking. I found this shed back on January 9th smack dab in the middle of an Antler King food plot that was absolutely hammered with virtually zero food left. It goes to show that the deer will hit the easiest food no matter what. Brian had previously plowed the snow off of the food plot to help the deer out. Shed hunting is a great way to not only check your inventory, but a great way to learn your property and spend some time with friends and family. Shed hunting to me is like Christmas morning. I absolutely love it. So get out there and see what made it and have fun with family and friends!~Jeff Kaye
With over a foot of snow on the ground and the weatherman calling for warmer weather, I decided to plow the snow off our food plots so the snow would melt faster. On the way up the gravel pit driveway, I happened to spot this 10 pt. shed just a few feet from the driveway! Finding ‘em when I’m not even looking for ‘em!

Team members Alan and Katie took advantage of the spring-like weather we had over the weekend and did a little shed huntin’ of their own and didn’t leave empty handed!!
